Happy New Year!
For the last few months, I’ve been working with the PUBS 2017 executive committee to help secure speakers and plan for the annual Prairie Universities Biology Symposium that will be held here at the University of Saskatchewan February 23-27.
As an Ontario kid, I had no idea there was a secret bunch of awesome prairie universities that put together a for-students, by-students biology conference every year. Last year, barely 2 months into my PhD, I hopped in a lovely white Town & Country minivan with fellow biology graduate students to drive across the Canadian prairies (a first for me) to Lethbridge, Alberta for the event. Since I had nothing to present yet, I participated as both a session chair and as a student judge.
This year, I’ve been working hard at getting a great group of scientists on board as plenary speakers for the event. Scheduling and registration are now underway, so if you haven’t registered yet, make sure you register with your abstract before the deadline!
